Land Acknowledgement

The sacred land on which we operate here at Hamilton Jewish Family Services is situated on the sacred land of the traditional territories of the Anishinaabeg, Haudenosaunee, Attiwonderonk,Erie, Neutral, Huron-Wendat, and Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation. This territory is covered by the Dish With One Spoon Wampum Belt Covenant, an agreement between the Haudenosaunee and Anishinaabeg allied nations to peaceably share and care for the lands around the Great Lakes.

We recognize the many Nations of Indigenous people, who presently live on this land, those who have spent time here and the ancestors who have hunted and gathered on this land known as Turtle Island.

We recognize that we must do more to learn about the rich history of this land so that we can better understand our roles as residents, neighbours, partners and caretakers.
